They day started out great I met a guy at a restaurant the previous night and he invited me to join him at his ranch to ride atv up a mountain to a cool lake. After that I headed out to do my 55 mile ride. Towards the end of the ride I was going down the biggest mountain pass on the entire route. I was riding at about 40 mph when my front tire exploded I don’t know if I hit a rock or it just exploded but I flipped over the bars and slid on the pavement at very high speeds towards on coming traffic. The cars in front stopped in time and helped me get to the side of the road. Initially I was very shook up but alive and appeared to be in decent shape. Some very kind people offered to drive me into town and gave me a place to stay the next few days while I wait to heel up. My bike is very damaged. My carbon wheel exploded and my shifters bent inward and my helmet and bike kit scraped to bits, but I am ok aside from lots of road rash and maybe a broken pinky. I am very glad to be here as if that had happend on one of the turns or closer to a car I would have definitely not made it.
I don’t know yet what I will do moving forward but I will definitely give it my best effort to finish of these last few hundred miles to the ocean

Oh my gosh! I am glad to hear you are ok! How can we help?

Philip – So sorry to hear about the accident and we are all relieved that you are basically okay. It’s heartwarming that some kind people have taken you in to heal. It looks like you are in Idaho. Your story now has some added drama that we hoped to avoid!
Sarah/Clark- Is there anything the Rotary Club of Aurora can do to help?
